Yucaipa, California

Our city is a quiet, peaceful community situated just beneath the beautiful San Bernardino mountains.  With access to ski resorts, fishing lakes, and the desert Yucaipa is the heart of year round fun.  Living in Yucaipa offers the opportunity in one day to have breakfast at sun up in Palm Springs, lunch in the mountains, then head down to the coast and finish your day with dinner on the Pacific Ocean.  Yucaipa is less than an hour from all your favorite places.  We are also the gateway to the Arizona playground....for all you River Rats and Havasu Hobos!

One of the few livestock communities left in inland area, Yucaipa is home to a large equestrian center and has incorporated riding trails in all new area construction projects.  Horses have been a long time part of Yucaipa's life, and part of Yucaipa's charm.  Don't be shocked if you see a horse and rider strolling down the boulevard, it's a common occurrence around here.

Yucaipa Adobe, historical landmark

Before European contact, the site of the Yucaipa Adobe was occupied by the Serrano Indians. The marsh land, fed by springs, supported abundant vegetation and wildlife. In 1842, Antonio Maria Lugo received a grant of land in the San Bernardino and Yucaipa valleys from Mexican Governor Alvarado and established the San Bernardino Rancho. Diego Sepulveda, a cousin by marriage to the Lugo family, brought a herd of cattle from other ranchos and settled in the Yucaipa Valley.

The Virginia City Chevron
Actually, this is in Calimesa, which is a five minute drive East from Yucaipa.  But since our father, Hubert Bell owned this station for nearly 20 years, we felt it should be noted as a landmark!  It was located on the corner of Calimesa Blvd. and Myrtlewood, but is now the home of a donut shop......
